ActivityPub und Mastodon-Umfragen

#ActivityPub ist ein gern genutztes #Kommunikationsprotokoll im #Fediverse, mit dem sich Instanzen untereinander unterhalten und austauschen. Die fediversale Plattform #Mastodon unterstützt Umfragen.

So weit, so gut. Nur, die Art und Weise, wie Mastodon Umfragen umsetzt, paßt nicht 100%ig zu der in ActivityPub bzw. im #Activity #Vocabulary definierten Form.

Demnach wäre eine #Frage (engl. #Question) nämlich eigentlich eine Aktivität und kein Objekt. Mastodon behandelt eine Frage allerdings als Objekt. Dies kann zu Verständigungsproblemen zwischen verschiedenen Instanztypen im Fediverse führen.

Mastodon-Instanzen untereinander verstehen sich. Auch #Mammuthus versteht sich auf Umfragen im Mastodon-Stil. Bei weiteren Fediverse-Plattformen (wie etwa #Friendica, #Pixelfed, #Firefish, etc.) wäre dies im Einzelfall zu klären.

Dem geneigten Lesenden mag aufgefallen sein, daß das #W3C das "Activity Vocabulary" auf Mai 2017 datiert, "ActivityPub" allerdings auf Januar 2018. Und letzteres keinen expliziten Bezug zu einer "Question" nimmt.

Here it is pure #PHP and #MySQL or #MariaDB is needed.

Shared Hosting is sufficient here, but installation is still needed to be done manually. No type of installer yet. No container.

No public repo yet.

Base of my stuff is my own code library or framework (whatever you want to call it), that was never designed to run for other people except myself. So still a longer way to achieve a deployable product usable by others.

But i operate multiple instances using my #Fediverse server on a daily basis... and btw. i called it #Mammuthus...

And besides of #ActivityPub (S2S) i also support a more or less #Mastodon compatible #Client #API to allow the usage of apps and clients designed for that one.

But also here still work to be done, e.g. the support of quoted posts.

So, the creation of an own #Fediverse server software may be not the fastest way to get instances up and running... ;-)

1️⃣ Is it a configuration option on #Snac or is any instance using #Snac federating this way? Will it stop, when no one is following any account?

hhmx.de is my single account instance, that i use do develop my own #Fediverse server named #Mammuthus.

At least i noticed an issue, as the #Fedimeteo posts shows up as public (and not unlisted). Fixed now.

But as unlisted posts are used users can just find #Fedimeteo accounts by searching for accounts, right? Not sure, how visible this is... :-)

2️⃣ My approach is currently "what's the weather now, and soon, the next hours?" and just then "the next days"... maybe a poll would be a good idea?

aus aktuellem Anlaß, auf den ich später noch mit mehr Details zurückkommen will, darf ich (noch) einmal auf mein Projekt eines eigenen #Fediverse-Servers namens #Mammuthus hinweisen, in den ich demnächst mehr Zeit investieren will.

Dazu sei auch auf vier auf #Mammuthus laufende Accounts meinerseits hingewiesen, die ich in Zukunft hoffentlich auch aktiver mit sinnvollen Beiträgen bestücke... :-)
