L'Unità: Omicidio di Sako Bakari, confessa uno dei minorenni fermati: “L’ho accoltellato per difendere i miei amici”

Tutti si sono avvalsi della facoltà di non rispondere rilasciando solamente brevi dichiarazioni spontanee in merito ai loro comportamenti, ma uno dei componenti della “baby gang” che ha ucciso all’alba del 8 maggio scorso nella città vecchia di Taranto il bracciante agricolo di origini mariane Sako Bakari ha confessato l’omicidio.
È quanto emerso negli interrogatori tenuti oggi davanti al Gip del Tribunale per i minorenni di Taranto Paola Morelli per l’udienza di convalida dei fermi. La giudice si è riservata di decidere su convalida e applicazione di misure cautelari.
Uno dei quattro minori, un 15enne che compirà gli anni il prossimo 19 maggio, ha confessato l’omicidio dicendosi “profondamente dispiaciuto e sostenuto di aver agito per paura che i suoi amici potessero subire un’aggressione.
Gli altri tre avrebbero dichiarato di non essersi accorti che il 15enne aveva accoltellato Sako Bakari e di non aver notato che perdeva sangue.
Un quadro che cozza con le accuse nei confronti del gruppo e dei loro due complici maggiorenni, il 20enne Fabio Sale e il 22enne Cosimo Colucci, quest’ultimi due bloccati tra lunedì pomeriggio e martedì mattina. Per tutti infatti l’accusa contestata è di omicidio volontario aggravato dai futili motivi.
Secondo quanto ricostruito dagli inquirenti Sako Bakari sarebbe stato preso di mira dal gruppo senza un apparente motivo mentre si stava recando alla stazione di Taranto in bicicletta per poi raggiungere i campi di lavoro. Il 35enne maliano era stato raggiunto una prima volta poco dopo le 5 da due minorenni a bordo di uno scooter, che  mimando il gesto di una pistola lo avevano costretto a fermarsi. Quindi l’intervento degli altri del gruppo e le prime botte: Sako avrebbe tentato di sfuggire all’aggressione rifugiandosi nei pressi di un bar, ma il pestaggio sarebbe continuato fino a quando uno dei 15enni ha sferrato i fendenti fatali. Come riferisce l’edizione di Bari del Corriere, le immagini registrate dalle telecamere e finite agli atti dell’inchiesta mostrerebbero tutte le fasi della violenza.

All of them had exercised the right to remain silent, releasing only brief, spontaneous statements regarding their behavior, but one of the members of the “baby gang” who killed agricultural worker Sako Bakari, of Mariane origins, at dawn on May 8th in the old town of Taranto confessed to the murder.

This emerged from the interrogations held today before Judge Paola Morelli of the Juvenile Court of Taranto for the validation of the arrests. The judge reserved the right to decide on the validation and application of precautionary measures.

One of the four minors, a 15-year-old who will turn 16 on May 19th, confessed to the murder, saying he was “deeply sorry and supported by the fear that his friends might be attacked.”

The other three allegedly said they hadn’t noticed that the 15-year-old had stabbed Sako Bakari and hadn’t realized he was bleeding.

This picture clashes with the accusations against the group and their two adult accomplices, 20-year-old Fabio Sale and 22-year-old Cosimo Colucci, both of whom were under house arrest between Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning. For all of them, the charge is aggravated voluntary manslaughter.

According to investigators, Sako Bakari was targeted by the group without apparent reason while cycling to the Taranto train station to reach the work fields. The 35-year-old Malian was first approached shortly after 5 pm by two minors on a scooter, who, mimicking the action of a gun, forced him to stop. Then the intervention of the other members of the group and the initial beatings: Sako attempted to escape the attack by seeking refuge near a bar, but the assault continued until one of the 15-year-olds inflicted the fatal stab wounds. As reported by the Bari edition of Corriere della Sera, the images recorded by the cameras and included in the investigation file would show all the phases of the violence.

“Sei mio fratello”. “Vita mia, sempre con te”. Li leggi, questi messaggi, e pensi che siano messaggi di solidarietà, di pietà. Ti rincuorano. E invece guardi bene e ti accorgi, sgomento, che sono messaggi di approvazione per i cinque ragazzi di Taranto che l’altra notte hanno scannato un giovane del Mali, di 35 anni, Bakary Sako, semplicemente perché era nero. Come facevano 150 anni fa i razzisti del Ku Klux Klan in Alabama. I social sono pieni di questi messaggi. Non solidarietà alla famiglia di Bakary, o alla comunità maliana. ma agli autori del pestaggio e dell’omicidio.
Vedete: è inutile credere che in Italia il razzismo, anche il razzismo più feroce, sia solo un fatto marginale, che riguarda una minoranza. È un fenomeno di massa. Che travolge anche i giovani. E che è alimentato da partiti politici e da sistemi di informazione che da molti anni hanno criminalizzato gli immigrati e in modo particolare gli africani. Sdoganando ogni forma, anche la più atroce, di xenofobia. Se non cambiano le cose, e se non si ferma la macchina della propaganda, soprattutto dei partiti di destra, fondata sulla caccia all’immigrato, sui decreti anti profughi, sul divieto dei soccorsi in mare, sui Cpr e sulle deportazioni in Albania, se non si ferma questa valanga, il razzismo continuerà a dilagare.
Bakary l’altra notte stava andando alla stazione di Taranto per salire su un pullman che lo avrebbe portato ai campi, a Massafra, dove lavorava come bracciante. Cinque giovani lo hanno circondato e picchiato. Lui è scappato, si è rifugiato in un bar. Il barista lo ha ricacciato in strada, e lì Bakary è stato colpito a morte da tre coltellate. Il problema non è punire i cinque ragazzi o il barista. Il problema è sospendere le campagne politiche xenofobe.

“You are my brother.” “Life of mine, always with you.” Read these messages, and you think they are messages of solidarity, of pity. They comfort you. But look closely and you realize, with dismay, that they are messages of approval for the five boys from Taranto who last night attacked a young man from Mali, 35 years old, Bakary Sako, simply because he was black. Like the racists of the Ku Klux Klan did 150 years ago in Alabama. Social media is full of these messages. Not solidarity with the family of Bakary, or with the Malian community, but with the perpetrators of the beating and murder.

See: it’s useless to believe that in Italy, even the most ferocious racism is just a marginal issue, affecting only a minority. It’s a mass phenomenon. That overwhelms young people as well. And that is fueled by political parties and information systems that, for many years, have criminalized immigrants, and particularly Africans. They are desensitizing every form, even the most atrocious, of xenophobia. If things don’t change, and if the propaganda machine doesn't stop, especially that of right-wing parties, founded on the hunt for immigrants, anti-refugee decrees, the ban on rescue operations at sea, CPs and deportations to Albania, if this avalanche doesn't stop, racism will continue to spread.

Bakary last night was going to the Taranto train station to board a bus that would take him to the fields, in Massafra, where he worked as a farm laborer. Five young men surrounded him and beat him up. He escaped, took refuge in a bar. The bartender threw him back onto the street, and there Bakary was killed with three stab wounds. The problem isn’t punishing the five boys or the bartender. The problem is suspending the xenophobic political campaigns.

Un sesto fermo e la probabile chiusura del cerchio nell’inchiesta sull’omicidio di Sako Bakari, il 35enne maliano ucciso all’alba di sabato 9 maggio a Taranto da un branco di ragazzini e due maggiorenni.
La Squadra mobile ha individuato e fermato il sesto presunto componente della baby gang coinvolta nell’aggressione mortale ai danni del bracciante agricolo ammazzato a calci e pugni, e poi con tre coltellate, in piazza Fontana a Taranto.
Secondo quanto si è appreso, il sesto fermato è un giovane di 22 anni, il secondo maggiore del gruppo e anch’egli residente nel centro storico del capoluogo ionico. Nei giorni scorsi erano già stati fermati, su disposizione della procuratrice Eugenia Pontassuglia e della sostituta Paola Ranieri, altri cinque giovanissimi: il 20enne Fabio Sale e quattro minorenni di età compresa tra i 15 e i 16 anni, che rispondo dell’accusa di omicidio aggravato dai futili motivi.
Secondo quanto emerge dagli atti dell’inchiesta, già nei precedenti decreti di fermo si faceva riferimento a “un sesto individuo che in quel momento era ai tavolini del bar”, accusato di aver colpito la vittima con un pugno durante il pestaggio.
Per Sale è previsto oggi l’interrogatorio davanti al gip di Taranto Gabriele Antonaci, mentre domani sarà la volta dei quattro minori, che compariranno davanti al gip Paola Morelli.
Non è escluso che a fare da sfondo all’omicidio del 35enne maliano non subentrino altre aggravanti, compreso l’odio razziale. D’altra parte Bakari non era stato l’unico “straniero” preso di mira dalla baby gang all’alba del 9 maggio: prima di lui alcune telecamere avevano ripreso parte del gruppo infastidire un altro immigrato, con due dei cinque fermati filmati pochi minuti prima dell’aggressione mortale ai danni di Sako mentre a bordo di uno scooter eseguivano manovre pericolose attorno a un uomo di origine subsahariana con “intento di intimorirlo” e aggredendolo verbalmente.

The Mobile Squad has identified and arrested the sixth alleged member of the “baby gang” involved in the fatal attack on the farmworker, who was killed with kicks and punches, and then with three stabbings, in Piazza Fontana in Taranto.

According to what has emerged, the sixth suspect arrested is a 22-year-old young man, the second oldest in the group and also residing in the historic center of the Ionic capital. In the past few days, five other very young people had already been arrested, at the order of prosecutors Eugenia Pontassuglia and Paola Ranieri, including a 20-year-old, Fabio Sale, and four minors aged between 15 and 16 years old, who are accused of aggravated murder with trivial motives.

According to the investigation documents, references to “a sixth individual who at that moment was at the bar tables” had already been made in previous arrest warrants, accused of striking the victim with a punch during the assault.

An interrogation of Sale before judge Gabriele Antonaci in Taranto is scheduled for today, while tomorrow it will be the turn of the four minors, who will appear before judge Paola Morelli.

It is not ruled out that other aggravating factors, including racial hatred, may have formed the backdrop to the murder of the 35-year-old Malian man. Bakari was not the only “foreigner” targeted by the “baby gang” at dawn on May 9th: before him, cameras had captured part of the group harassing another immigrant, with two of the five arrested filmed just minutes before the fatal attack on Sako while on a scooter they were performing dangerous maneuvers around a man of Sub-Saharan origin with “the intent to intimidate” him and verbally assaulting him.
