Behind the scenes hackers and coders have been raising the alarm about the
privacy risks (reality, not a risk) of the use of commercial tools to access LLM'z, pushing themselves hard to provide advice and code to companies - at the cost of their sleep for the vast majority, under the pressure of management, in order for these companies to enter the market of "AI" to make profits at the cost of our security.

It makes me sad that today the majority of publication about #deepseek, (which is released in Opensource) availability turns around threats on privacy while our infosec community's work has been ignored for now more than two years. The topic of privacy will circulate on social networks to be ignored in a couple of weeks (I am optimistic), pushed out by another topic about LLM, eluding again the fact that any company can run its own models locally on dedicated servers.

In 2025, it might be a good idea to install "Who wrote that?" now, a browser add-on by @wikimediafoundation

It adds a link "Who wrote that?" under "Tools", on every #Wikipedia page. If you click it, the revision history for the respective page is scanned in the background, and you get tooltips giving you #author info for every piece of text, plus highlighting of the other parts of the page they also edited.

I believe you know why you might want this.

Currently works for the following Wikipedia languages: AR, DE, EN, ES, EU, FR, HU, ID, IT, JA, NL, PL, PT, TR.

@hrheingold

A reminder:

IF IT ISN'T DELIBERATE and the bad info is RETRACTED OR UPDATED, it's #Misinformation.

IF IT IS DELIBERATE, it is #Disinformation.

IF IT IS INFORMATION REMOVED FROM IT'S ORIGINAL CONTEXT, it is #Malinformation.

Disinformation and malinformation are anti-meaning and destructive.

Misinformation is based on ignorance & misunderstanding and then acknowledged, retracted and / or updated.

Johns Hopkins Univ. : BIAS helps in making quick decisions. Being well-informed makes that harder and decision-taking takes longer - a critical aspect in evolution.
"illusion of adequate information" is the BIAS that makes people THINK they are well-informed. Not being well-informed is an evolutionary advantage.
