athena_risingI just sent off a gift card to a friend and former coworker who had to move because of a fire in the apartment above hers. Luckily, she did have renter's insurance, but she's also under-employed right now after being laid off earlier this year. I took up a collection at work from others who worked with her so the sum could be larger. I can't fix the dumpster fire that is the world right now, but I am able to make hers a little better. I am riding a little high on this right now, as it's what I've been telling my students to look out for - opportunities to do what you can, not what you wish - and it always feels good to practice what you preach. #makingtheworldabetterplace #onepersonatatime
