20 Miss Marshall Islands 2023 candidates competing in Majuro

Billma Krystalena Peter represented Mejit, Marshall Islands at Miss Marshall Islands 2019 and competed against 23 other candidates at the International Conference Center in Majuro, Marshall Islands on July 13, 2019. She won the title.

Runner-up to Peter was Lonia Kaiko of Utrik. The second runner-up was Roanna Zackhras of Kwajalein.

Miss Marshall Islands 2023 contestants

On February 4, 2023, Peter will go back to the International Conference Center in Majuro to crown her successor. It is the second edition of the national beauty pageant that selects the Miss Pacific Islands of the Marshall Islands.

There are 20 women competing for the Miss Marshall Islands 2023 crown. Here are the candidates:

    On November 30, 2018, Leoshina Mercy Kariha of Papua New Guinea won Miss Pacific Islands 2018 at the Atele Indoor Stadium in Nuku’alofa, Tonga. She attended the Miss Marshall Islands 2019 coronation ceremony where Peter was crowned by Hilda Cathy Heine, who served as the president of the Marshall Islands from January 28, 2016 to January 13, 2020.

    On November 30, 2019, Peter represented the Marshall Islands at Miss Pacific Islands 2019 and competed against 11 other candidates at The Stanley Hotel and Suites in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. She was unplaced.

    It was Fonoifafo Mcfarland-Seumanu of Samoa who won the title. The respective first, second, third and fourth runners-up were Gladys Habu of the Solomon Islands, Lucy Maino of Papua New Guinea, Herevai Hoata of Tahiti and Yehenara Soukop of Tonga.

    Billma Peter crowns Miss Marshall Islands 2023 Claret Chong-Gum in Majuro

    Billma Krystalena Peter of Mejit, Marshall Islands won Miss Marshall Islands 2019 at the International Conference Center in Majuro, Marshall Islands on July 13, 2019. A total of 24 candidates competed for the title.

    Amid the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Peter reigned as Miss Marshall Islands from 2020 to 2022. On February 4, 2023, she went back to the International Conference Center in Majuro where she crowned her successor Claret Taonang Chong-Gum of Jaluit.

    On February 3, 2023, Chong-Gum will represent the Marshall Islands at Miss Pacific Islands 2023 at Gym 1 in Tuanaimato, Apia, Samoa. It is the 33rd edition of the international beauty pageant.

    Leoshina Mercy Kariha represented Papua New Guinea at Miss Pacific Islands 2018 and competed against five other candidates at the Atele Indoor Stadium in Nuku’alofa, Tonga on November 30, 2018. She won the title.

    Miss Marshall Islands 2019 contestants

    On July 13, 2019, Kariha will attend the Miss Marshall Islands 2019 coronation ceremony at the International Conference Center in Majuro, Marshall Islands. It is the inaugural edition of the national beauty pageant that selects the Miss Pacific Islands candidate of the country.

    Mattu Wase-Jacklick and Ben Wakefield will host the show. Marshall Islands president Hilda Cathy Heine will grace the event.

    There are only four atoll-based countries in the world, which are Kiribati, the Maldives, the Marshall Islands and Tuvalu. The Marshall Islands consists of five main islands and 29 coral atolls.

    Majuro is the capital and the largest city of the Marshall Islands. Politically, the country is a presidential parliamentary republic in free association with the United States.

    Born on Jaluit Atoll, Marshall Islands, Heine graduated from the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon, USA with a bachelor’s degree in 1970 and from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA with a master’s degree in 1975. In 2004, she graduated from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California, USA with an educational doctorate, making her the first person from the Marshall Islands to get a doctorate.

    On January 18, 2016, Heine assumed office as the president of the Marshall Islands. On April 6, 2019, she turned 68.

    It was Hilda Cathy Heine who crowned Peter. The former has been serving as the president of the Marshall Islands since January 28, 2016.
