So, what this does NOT address is the issue of staffing, or lack thereof! Maybe let a few unhoused folks live there, and then you'll have some staff! PLUS, the other issue is how far away from the downtown #PortlandME area (5 miles) it is! The same with #MaineNeeds (4 miles), where folks can get tents and clothing. Everything used to be centralized at #PrebleStreet, downtown, but noooo. Can't have homeless folks setting up tents near Whole F*cking Foods, can we?!!

Portland adds criteria to open emergency warming shelter after it failed to open during blizzard

The shelter will now open during blizzard and ice storm warnings, and there are procedures if a forecast changes quickly

I stopped by #MaineNeeds today to drop off some clothing and other needed items. I mentioned that I saw that tents were on their "wish-list", and the volunteer responded that the greatest need was for 2 and 4-person tents. Noted!
