Last week saw Újpest’s first match in this season’s Magyar Kupa against County League (fourth tier) opposition. Horváth Krisztofer opened the scoring with his first for the club and later added a second, also scoring for the first time for Lilák were Fiola Attila & Baranyai Nimród. Geiger Bálint netted his first for the first team and the other scorers were Matija Ljujić & João Nunes.

Fielding a much weaker team with only two regular starters, Lilák progressed into the next round of the Magyar Kupa with this win at NBIII side Tatabánya. The goals came from Oliver Jürgens, his first senior goal for Újpest and Simon Krisztián. Five of the usual suspects came on for a loosener after the goals but by then it was already job done. Hajrá Lilák!!!

Zalaegerszeg won the Magyar Kupa for the first time in their history. Thry beat Budafok from NBII (2nd division) 2-0 after extra-time at the Puskás Aréná.

Budafok only 9th in NBII (2nd division) make it into the final for the first time, their best previously was reaching the semi-finals six years ago. Zalaegerszeg lost in the 2010 final but have never won it, so there will be a new name on the Magyar Kupa this season.
