Overcast weather with some storms over the last week, about 100mm in total, 15mm overnight before yesterday’s walk in the NP (Yunbenun). Amazing how plants respond to a bit of rain, lichens and mosses, in particular, and fungi come to life with vibrant colours.

First leg of the trip is just getting off Maggie (Yunbenun, Wulgurukaba country) and onto the mainland, the barge to Townsville is relaxing before a long drive. Conflicted feelings as I depart, while looking forward to the road trip, the summer heat has finished now and the following months are the best time to experience Yunbenun.
