The dark side of the psychedelic experience, sounding like a soundtrack to a bad trip with its bleak, enigmatic lyrics, swirling, somewhat dissonant arrangements, and relentlessly minor melodies. The longer tracks meander at times, but the hell-bent jerking tempos of "Merciful Monks" and "Amphetamine Gazelle, " as well as the chilling closing lullaby "Hush Julian, " still pack a punch.

There are some auction sites which won't ship to MA, so I have to have them sent to a very kind friend in CT who is willing to accept shipments on my behalf. He's been holding a few for me for a while, and we were able to meet up today at WhiskyMentors in Canterbury, CT.

All told I brought home 14 bottles from auctions, and one I picked up while I was there. I'll break it up into separate posts.

The last whisky in the lot is an eight year old German Single Grain from Finch. I'd originally picked this up intending to use it at a German-themed tasting we did in October, but shipping delays meant it didn't arrive in time.

It wasn't all whisky, either.

I picked up a bottle of Don Julio Tequila 1942 because I like it and it was a good deal I spotted while bidding on other lots.

And the rest is rum.

I picked up four bottles of Black Tot Rum - a Finest Caribbean and three of four extant Master Blender's Reserve releases - 2022, 2023, and 2024. The 2021 is still out there. I was inspired to pick these up after seeing The Rum Revival talk about them on YouTube.

And, last but not least, while I was at Whisky Mentors, aka Canterbury Liquors, I picked up a store pick Mad River Distillers Double Barrel Rum - QS01 Reminiscent.

Was supposed to work with clients in #Waitsfield #Vermont today, but stopped in #Waterbury #VT due to car issues. With all the rain last night and this morning, there's a floodwatch and the #WinooskiRiver looked high, so figured I'd stay here and handle things remotely.

It has now stopped raining, but it's already at moderate flood level:
