"The #BritishMuseum has postponed a lecture for #Jewish culture month over concerns that the event would be disrupted by #protesters.

The #museum announced that the talk on ancient #Israel and #Judah, which was scheduled to take place on Thursday, would be held at a later date yet to be decided.

The talk[...] was expected to examine the #archaeology and #history of the ancient kingdoms of Israel and Judah through artefacts held by the museum.

It was also expected to touch on other #historical events such as the #Babylonian destruction of #Jerusalem and the #Maccabean revolt, and was organised as part of the first ever #Jewishculturemonth in the #UK, which runs until 16 June.

However, less than 24 hours before the event, the museum said it would be postponed. In a statement, the museum said it was informed that a “significant proportion” of the registered attendees were “individuals intending to deliberately disrupt the event[...]”

#Hanukkah[a] (/ˈhɑːnəkə/; חֲנֻכָּה‎ Ḥănukkā listenⓘ) is a #Jewishfestival commemorating the recovery of #Jerusalem and subsequent rededication of the Second Temple at the beginning of the #Maccabean Revolt against the #SeleucidEmpire in the 2nd century BCE.[3][4]

The named son of the #Chief_Rabbi of #Ukraine, #Matityagu (#Anton) #Samborsky, died at the front

This was reported by his father , #Moshe_Reuven_Asman.

"In 2002, my wife and I adopted an 11-year-old boy who remained an orphan. His name was #Anton_Samborskyi, but we gave him the #Jewish name #Matityagu (#Motya) in honour of the heroic leader of the #Maccabean uprising against the invading empire more than 2,200 years ago - the events that formed the basis of the #Hanukkah holiday," he said.

Please remember that #Christians reject the #Talmud (no judgment, it’s their right) so their reason for #Hanukkah is NOT the #miracle of the #oil but the #rededication of the #Holy #Temple in Yerushalayim after the success of the #Maccabean #Revolt against the oppressive Seleucid Empire.
