Healey signs order to add 10 gigawatts of power to Mass. by 2035

Saying the state has "a lot of energy needs," Gov. Maura Healey is tasking state agencies with adding 10 gigawatts of power to the state’s supply to help lower residents’ increasingly costly energy bills. That’s enough to power two million homes and could save residents $10 billion, Healey said.

Apparently cutting $1 billion from Mass Save won't have much of any positive impact on our energy bills? Shocking. Maybe that is partly a result of Beacon Hill deciding that we get to pay for their lobbying. (Paper fails to mention this aspect of the legislation.)

Massachusetts folks: please support public defenders in their drive to unionize. Currently they are prohibited by statute from unionizing. That’s unfair.

In 2025, private, court-appointed lawyers organized for higher pay and got a small (but insufficient) raise. In response, the legislature doubled staff public defender positions knowing they couldn’t unionize. Don’t let them get away with this gambit. #UnionYes #Labor #Unions #MApoli

So yeah, New England is going to have to get real serious about freedom from car dependency.

That means stronger bike networks and more investment in bus infrastructure, subways, trains...

Helping folks in the auto industry pivot into other professions.

Etc.

And addressing racism needs to be on the front burner.
