🖊️ #WriNow -- June 2024 -- Prompt 5 of 25: Race

thinking about #MVTaz while living in day 6 of job offer limbo

- Are there multiple races in your world? How is each one treated? Are there any racial divides or struggles? How will this impact your story?
The big ~racial divide~ in #MVTaz is between the mortal humans and immortal daemons. Historically, the two groups have lived separately, but a handful of daemon families have moved out of their ancestral homeland and into the human world.

Among the daemons that have left their homeland, there is an old guard that believes humans to be the inferior race and seeks to establish dominance over them, and there are others who see humans as quaint, but largely harmless, content to generally ignore them -- but among the younger generation of daemons, the ones born into the human world, the lines of the divide between the two groups is becoming blurred. Intermarriage between the two groups is still rare (largely attributed to the difference in lifespan), but not unheard of.

🖊️ #WriNow -- June 2024 -- Prompt 4 of 25: Religion / Culture

day 5 of job offer limbo, so let's knock out some more plotting prompts for #MVTaz

- Does religion exist in your story? How does it impact your story?
I've been thinking about this for a while now -- religion very much takes a backseat, but I do think there are some nebulous religious (or pseudo-religious) ideals in certain parts of the world that have an "off-screen" impact... but a pretty significant one in that some of those ideals are what pushes Taz away from the culture he was brought up in and into a new-to-him world. It's something I'd like to explore more in later installments or maybe address briefly in flashbacks, but it's not really the central focus of *this* story.

- What is the culture of your setting like? How does it impact your story?
In a broad sense, the culture of the main setting is very "generic American city." A little bit of everything scattered around, some areas more "melting pot" and some places more clearly influenced by a particular group or background. In terms of how it affects the story, Taz comes into the city from a very isolated and homogeneous culture, so he very much has to learn new social norms and how to navigate through more diverse social spheres.

🖊️ #WriNow -- June 2024 -- Prompt 3 of 25: Supporting Characters

- Name? Age? Relationship to the mains? How do they support the story?

For this one today I'll just talk about the main supporting character -- arguably maybe even the deuteragonist? -- Allegretta "Gretta" Delaforte

She's Taz's girlfriend and Adia's best friend -- her evolving relationships with them (and the consequences of actions the three of them take in relation to each other) drive things forward.

A few things have changed since I originally started this project (goodbye, horns, wings, and tails!) but Gretta is still one of my faves.

...and we'll just pretend she's not in the exact same pose as Aida on yesterday's post.

🖊️ #WriNow -- June 2024 -- Prompt 2 of 25: Antagonist

- Who is your antagonist?
Adia Malory

-What motivates them?
Adia wants to be recognized -- she craves the attention and adoration of everyone around her.

- What is their biggest character flaw?
Envy!

- What would they have in their pocket?
A few crumpled coffee receipts, an empty straw wrapper, maybe a used napkin.

- Share an inspirational photo!
No moodboard for Miss Adia, but she does have a Sim version because I am That Person™️.

🖊️ #WriNow -- June 2024 -- Prompt 1 of 25: Protagonist

Project in question is #MVTaz because of course I'll never be done working on this mess.

- Who is your protagonist?
Tzuriel "Taz" Dekresh

-What motivates them?
Taz wants to separate himself from tradition -- he is trying to find his own way and prove to himself (and his family) that he can make it on his own and write his own legacy.

- What is their biggest character flaw?
Hubris!

- What would they have in their pocket?
He's not really one to carry a bunch of extras around, so likely just his cell phone and wallet.

- Share an inspirational photo!

About halfway through Draft 0 of #MVTaz, not sure if I'm going to make it all the way through before #NaNoWriMo starts next week. 😬

If you're participating in #NaNoWriMo2023, how is your #preptober going? Will you be ready when November 1 hits??

Hoo boy! It's been a hot minute. Life got a little crazy there, but we're making it through!

Halfway through #Preptober and have I prepped anything? No. But #NaNoWriMo is right around the corner and I'm ready to finish up Draft 0 of #MVTaz to use it as my outline for November!

Time to kick it into high gear and get this party started! 😤

#WritersCoffeeClub — Sep. 1 — Introduction!

I’m Madi—behavior analyst by day, mom by night, writer whenever I can find a spare minute (which isn't nearly as often as I would like). Playing a little bit of catch-up here!

My main WIP -- #MVTaz -- has been stewing around in my brain for longer than I'd care to admit and has existed in various forms and iterations over the past 15 years or so. It's always been some form of supernatural / fantasy / romance, but this time around I'm leaning a little heavier into the romance instead of the fantasy / supernatural aspect, so we'll see what happens!

🌟 #WritingWonders#MVTaz — Aug. 31 — Has your MC or antagonist ever approved of what the other does?

In the words of Virginia Lewis in the cinematic masterpiece THE 10TH KINGDOM: "Well, a bit more than that, your honor." 😏

🌟 #WritingWonders#MVTaz — Aug. 30 — Have you ever planned to kill a character and then not done it?

I'm sure I have, although my Tumblr followers that were around for that iteration of this current WIP would probably be a little skeptical. None are specifically coming to mind right now!
