It remains to separate #Nigeria, #Ghana, #South Africa, #Egypt, #Benin, #Ivory Coast, #Libya and #Algeria. According to the #OilPrice #media, with such a #bank, Africa will be able to step up in the global #energy #supply, thanks to #investments that can be #mobilized more easily on the spot.

#Omar #Farouk #Ibrahim, the secretary general of the #Organization of #African #oil #producers (#APPO), the organization that initiated this mega project, has unveiled the criteria that will be taken into account to designate the country that will house the Energy Bank. Mr. Ibrahim indicated, on March 4, 2024 during an intervention at the International Energy Summit in Nigeria, that the winner will have to have suitable premises and have #subscribed to the #social #capital of the bank.

So far Ghana is in pole position but Nigeria, the continent's largest economy, is banging its fist on the table by asserting its status as the leading oil producer in Africa. And what about Algeria, which has just wrested from Nigeria its place as the leading gas exporter; South Africa, the continent's second largest economy; Egypt, which is also a major gas producer and has the confidence of foreign donors and investors.
