" 'The reality we're seeing is that the recent surge in ICE activity is causing uncertainty for farm labor that doesn't stop at a visa status. Back in the late 90s, it was all much simpler with mIRC as the chat programme. Simple text conversations, in groups or sometimes 1-on-1.

Mastodon seems to be the closest thing to that. And that's probably why I enjoy being here so much :).

I never forget those great times since 1996 when I used to be in specific rooms for music, especially Japanese and learned about more artists from that time. What a struggle to spend one or two hours downloading a single mp3! LOL

I once wrote a #Java program that randomly assembles sentences like the classic #mIRC “slaps X around a bit with a large trout” from several big lists of fragments (“slaps” and “smacks” in one list, “a bit” and “a lot” in another list, “trout” and “cod” in still another list, and so on).

I also wrote a plugin for X-Chat, my #IRC client of choice at the time, that integrates a Java VM via JNI in order to actually use my high-tech trout-slapping program.
