‘Are you still involved in your community?’: Open or closed, here’s how Portland businesses fared during the nationwide strike

More news on #Regina's elimination of #coin payment at downtown #parking meters. For those who missed the last episode of "Clueless Elected #Politicians Who Think Everyone Lives Exactly Like They Do", the city switched to electronic-only payments that (a) absolutely require you to use a cell #phone to pay, and (b) route all payments through a US-owned company that won't guard your personal information.
From the article:
> Council also approved #Mayor Chad #Bachynski’s suggestion to introduce prepaid parking
> vouchers as an additional option [...]
>
> The pre-paid vouchers are [...] offered in packs of five for $13.75 at city hall and are
> valid at any regular parking meter.
Note: you can't park at city hall without plugging a meter. So you'll need a parking #voucher before you can go purchase parking vouchers.
This price also means it costs three times as much to park for a half hour as it did previously. If you were used to running brief errands and only plugging a quarter into the #meter, it'll cost *twelve* times as much.
> “[The vouchers] are less convenient than the #app,” acknowledged the city’s director of
> community standards, Faisal Kalim, after the meeting. “Our message for residents is
> to download the app. It is a good system and it is a practical way to park.”
"You don't have a smart phone? Our message is just go get a smart phone."
#Arrogant asses.
