This is theater. Please don't tell me you believe it wasn't planned. He had to have a cover for #killing United States #Marines just for more money and destruction. Please don't think it's anything other than using our nation like toilet paper and killing people while doing it.🔦🎤💃🏻

Today in Labor History June 19, 1985: Gunmen opened fire on an outdoor restaurant in San Salvador’s upscale Zona Rosa, killing 13, including four U.S. Marines and two U.S. businessmen. A broadcast by Radio Venceremos, the FMLN’s pirate radio station, said: "If U.S. Army members and CIA agents died in San Salvador, it was because they came to attack our people. No one had summoned them; they died as a result of the interventionist policy carried out by President Reagan, whose intervention grows day by day. Reagan will have to assume full responsibility for his deeds." Mark Danner wrote a really horrifying, but excellent article in the New Yorker, 1993, about the dirty war the Salvadoran government had waged against its own people. It includes the amazing story of how guerillas pretended to allow their precious pirate radio transmitter (for Radio Venceremos) to get captured by the ruthless Colonel Monterosa. In reality it was a ruse. The transmitter was packed with explosives, which blew up the colonel in his helicopter. You can read the story here: http://markdanner.com/1993/12/06/the-truth-of-el-mozote/.

I visited the site in the early 1990s, after the Civil War had ended. The bullet holes were still there. In spite of the war being officially over, there continued to be massacres and atrocities for some time. I remember going on a protest march in San Salvador in opposition to the continued impunity. Buses brought in demonstrators from all across the country. There were also numerous United Nations peace keepers present. It was an interesting time to be there. Many people proudly proclaimed their support for the FMLN to me, even though they had just met me. There weren’t yet very many Mara Salvatrucha (MS13) gangsters there yet either. I only remember seeing their graffiti once or twice. But I did meet a couple of them at a bar once, or so they said. No tattoos. Very clean cut. But they did show me what they were “carrying” in their expensive Jeep Wrangler: an M16, several handguns, and a machete.
