A Truck Driver Spent 20 Years Making This Astonishing Scale Model of Every Single Building in New York City

The 1,350-square-foot model is now on display at the Museum of the City of New York, where visitors can use binoculars to see tiny replicas of all five boroughs

I've been researching various electronic circuits and sub-assemblies thereof recently. Plans afoot to make various things. I'm always surprised when something simple actually works, because it seems such a complicated thing to understand, especially when researching online. I'm always looking for something very specific and having to extract elements from similar but different circuits i find.

Anyway, this sporadic and disorganised research method has raised an interesting problem. I end up hand drawing little circuit components in various notebooks, crossing things out that don't work, putting ticks next to things that do. But I'll often leave one of the notebooks at home and not have it when I need it. My notes are all over the place and I end up having to look through my web search history to find where I got a bit from.

Apart from having a dedicated notebook for electronics, wondering how other people keep things like this organised?

Made some staging for my potting shed. All the wood came out of skips. The only cost was £3.29 for the screws. The red wood preservative I already had, probably used about 50 pence worth. Need to go on a sowing binge now and get it filled up. #allotment #greenhouses #SeedSowing #making #recycling #SkipDiving

Had a good day making and fixing. My daughter brought her espresso machine over because it had stopped esspressing, after undoing about a million screws I finally found the four screws that you actually needed to undo to get to the guts and found a very obvious cause. The pressure relief pipe from the steamer had come undone, probably because it was clogged with gunk, and the steam and water had corroded the contacts on the pump. I was able to grind back the metal and plastic enough to give me a chance to solder on a lead and new spade terminal. Then I unclogged the steam pipe, and it's working perfectly. Kinda surprised how simple the workings of an espresso machine are TBH. Next, the 3D printer that I got for fiddy bucks on farcebook marketplace 1/2

This Is What a Personal Surveillance System Actually Looks Like

You stop thinking of it as surveillance. It becomes “the system.” Just part of how things run.

I'm most excited to share the technical video which shows all the new stuff I made during the PhD.
Some eurorack modules, sequencing discs and switches, and mechanical small percussion. The video shows how each of them works with short examples.
