@mlanger #UnpopularOpinion: I'd rather choose death than touch #MicrosoftOffice ever in my life again

But yeah: #LyingWithNumbers is a real thing and I kniw how to do it on accident and on purpose...

“The number of network connections required to @Microsoft and @Skype servers, to get Word just to start, is now 31. You can no longer say "I don´t want to send diagnostic data", then Word just quits silently. (Please spare me the Open/LibreOffice gospel, it does not apply here.)”

@lcamtuf it's what I call "#LyingWithNumbers" because it works like that!

@cryptadamist Yes, but:

It's just short-term luck and is also known as "Gambler's Fallacy"...

IOW: They just did #LyingWithNumbers...

Gambler's fallacy - Wikipedia

OSINT confirms that #Qubic is lying and did not achieve a #51Percent majority in the #Monero network.

  • Which I was already certain didn't happen!

At peak they had 40%, and as of that post only about 30%

  • Which is still too much but still…

#TLDR: Qubic used "#SelfishMining" and had a streak of luck! Not to mention said blicks didn't get included in the blockchain anyway, so all it did was "#LyingWithNumbers" in some stats that rely on self-reported claims instead of actual evidence.

IOW: Just because one got 51 of 100 blocks at some arbitrary timeframe doesn't mean one "owns" 51% of the network hashrate!

Already the cost of this operation is estimated to be U$D 150M per day to fake sad #51PercentAttack and the success entirely predicated on #FUD.

@threetails @ChrisMayLA6 and the worst part is: said politicions know they are lying!

  • And I don't mean "#LyingWithNumbers" but rather "Saying the exact opposite of what all the data evidences"!

@anon_opin nodds in agrement

It's just #LyingWithNumbers inthe cheapest way possible...

@fuchsiii the nice part is that this allows #LyingWithNumbers.

Nevermind the #ReducedLifecycle and the entire production chain can never offset such a high failure rate, but those don't show up on #EnergyBills, #PowerMeters and the like...

@mircoxi it should not be a fineable offense, because a fine means it's only illegal for small/"poor" corporations.

It's the #HR equivalent of #MarkToMarketAccounting...

  • They should be obligated to fill an advertised vacancy and evidence it!

I think #reproduceability and #OpenData should be mandatory #transparency in terms of #science, discouraging "#LyingWithNumbers" and encouraging a healthy discussion re: data sources as well...

@fennix on paper they can only do that by economies if scale and streamlined logistics as they like a small crocery buy from the same B2B wholesalers.

  • But I do share the same scepticism considering that they individually wrap portion ingredients and thus destroy some scalability advantages.

In the end ist's convenient numbers' shuffling aka. #LyingWithNumbers by omnission and sewed data.

  • I think if they focussed on the "eat healthier" and 'learn cooking basics' part they'd get a far more honest advertising campaign, because that is something they can be objectively way better.

Also the "carbon-friendlyness" is something with absurdly diverging data for comparison: Shure if people drive a #SuperUselessVehicle like an F-350 RAM 3500 just to get a bag of toast and milk, even a Parcel Delivery with a Model T using leaded fuel is emitting less #CO2 but if you have their target audience of above-average income city center yuppies that may not even own a car and most likely just a bike if not shop on foot or public transport or a big family buying food in bulk for 2 weeks at a time, this while marketing may become questionable.

  • Shure they'll still beat a delivery driver for takeout with an old compact car but they specifically want to say they're 'better than grocery shopping' which I'd put into question by my own, I'd say normal grocery buying patterns.
