#HipHop fans - if you haven't checked out the #Lukah / #StatikSelektah album "A Lost Language Found," do yourself a favor and do so asap.
Esp. heads that lean toward lyrical boom bap.
Lukah is from Memphis and there's a lot of the South on this record, but with a strong nod to mid-90s NYC. Loose concept around language/slang/dialects that really works. Some great features (Killer Mike, Bun B, 8ball to name a few).
Just a great album and I haven't seen much buzz for it yet. Don't sleep.
This was a hectic year for me, so obviously this is being published way later than it should have been. I was busy catching up on releases until late last night, so I didn’t feel like I had heard enough to put together this playlist. Anyway, shoutout to Kembe X & Hippie Sabotage for releasing my favorite album of the month with Sleep Paralysis. Kembe X is gearing up to release a follow-up EP on October 25th, so that’s really exciting. Sleep Paralysis is definitely one of my most played albums of the year. Particularly the songs Kill Everything in the Way & Baby I’m Up. I also go back to the Isaiah Rashad feature on Rolling Stoned a lot. The new project is called “it’s not that deep,” and there are already a few singles out, all of which are fire. I suggest starting with the Ab-Soul collaboration, Introverted, Extrovert.
