Here is a 1969 announcement about the opening of Red Books, "an anti-profit book store," in Cambridge.

Red Books eventually became Lucy Parsons Center!

This ad is from the short-lived leftist Cambridge newspaper, Juche.

We are calling on our neighbors to join us next sunday to share a discussion on the history of boston's manufactured neglect of the unhoused. We will be at the @lucyparsonscent on November 19th from 2-4pm. Masking is required and provided as needed.

Through growing our capacity to care and support our unhoused neighbors we prove every liberal and fascist alike that we indeed do have enough room, enough food, enough clothing, enough to go around for anyone who would like to call this state their home.

Every attempt to label this moment as a crisis out of our control is an attempt to shut people out from services and shut them out from coming here altogether. And every meal we give out and every night we make warmer for people pushes back against the creep of this scarcity mindset. #WarmUpBoston #LucyParsonsCenter #PovertyOfProgress

You are invited to Warm Up Boston's first in a series of readings to strengthen our understanding of one of capitalism's most blatant shortcomings. It is important for any group serving the needs of the unhoused to understand the context of where their aid falls among the forces that produce this situation. In ‘Neutralizing Homelessness,’ Peter Marcuse provides an excellent overview on the subject.

We will be reading along together at the @lucyparsonscent on Thursday, July 6th at 6pm. This space is limited to seat about 15 people comfortably, so please feel free to dm or comment to "rsvp". Online access available on request through Jitsi. Below is a glimpse into how this text is relevant to us in this city.

Boston is in a housing crisis. City officials are scrambling to increase supply to lower prices. But no amount of housing will be enough for people forced to stay outside. At any moment there will always be more housing units than people. Yet people will go without.

City officials are also scrambling to remove unhoused people off the street. Not because they have a right to housing but because they have an interest in rising property values and commerce. As we all learned, most state legislators are landlords. And so we see them make their attempts and when they do everything but provide housing, they explain houseless people away, nuetralizing them. #WarmUpBoston #LucyParsonsCenter #NeutralizingHomelessness

#JamaicaPlain, #BostonMA folks check it out! Happening later in March.
