“Alla comunità ebraica di Venezia, alle comunità ebraiche presenti nel Veneto e a tutte le famiglie che da domani sera celebreranno la Pesach, desidero rivolgere un augurio sincero e rispettoso. È una festa che, per l'ebraismo, custodisce la memoria della liberazione, della dignità ritrovata e della libertà come bene da difendere ogni giorno.”
Lo dichiara il Presidente del Consiglio regionale del Veneto, Luca Zaia, rivolgendo il proprio pensiero alle comunità ebraiche del Veneto.
“Quest'anno la Pasqua ebraica si colloca nei giorni che conducono anche alla Pasqua cristiana, mentre da poco si è concluso il Ramadan – osserva Zaia - Sono ricorrenze diverse, ciascuna con la propria identità e profondità, ma tutte capaci di richiamare il valore della speranza, della responsabilità e del riconoscimento dell'altro. In un tempo segnato dai conflitti in Medio Oriente, dalla ferita aperta dell'Ucraina e da molte altre guerre che continuano a colpire popoli e civili, Pesach e la Pasqua cristiana siano davvero occasione di pace, di rispetto della vita umana e di riconciliazione. Anche l'antico augurio ebraico ‘l'anno prossimo a Gerusalemme', nel suo significato spirituale più alto, può parlare oggi a tutti come desiderio di compimento, di convivenza e di pace, richiamando Gerusalemme quale città santa e luogo profondamente simbolico per le tre grandi religioni abramitiche: ebraismo, cristianesimo e islam.”

To the Jewish community of Venice, to the Jewish communities present in Veneto, and to all families who will celebrate Pesach starting tomorrow evening, I wish to offer a sincere and respectful greeting. It is a holiday that, for Judaism, safeguards the memory of liberation, of regained dignity, and of freedom as a good to be defended every day.
This was declared by the President of the Regional Council of Veneto, Luca Zaia, expressing his thoughts to the Jewish communities of Veneto.
“This year, the Jewish Passover falls on the days leading up to the Christian Passover, while the Ramadan has recently concluded – observes Zaia – These are different occasions, each with its own identity and depth, but all capable of calling up the value of hope, of responsibility, and of recognizing the other. In a time marked by conflicts in the Middle East, the open wound of Ukraine, and many other wars that continue to strike peoples and civilians, Pesach and the Christian Passover should truly be an opportunity for peace, for respect for human life, and for reconciliation. The ancient Jewish wish ‘next year in Jerusalem,’ in its highest spiritual meaning, can speak to all today as a desire for fulfillment, for coexistence, and for peace, calling Jerusalem as a holy city and a deeply symbolic place for the three great Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.”
“This is the wish I address to the Jewish communities of Veneto and, together, to all people of good will,” concludes the President of the Regional Council of Veneto, Luca Zaia.
