Got out early to celebrate #InternationalBatNight on Water of Leith in #Edinburgh and found a plucky Daubenton fighting the rain, some hooligan Soprano pipistrelles and a new chum who watched their aerial antics with maximum feline diffidence #LoveBats

@BorthwickDave
I have a bat flight in the garden where I test fly my rescue bats to ensure they are strong enough to support themselves when released. They need to be able to manouvre quickly and feed on the wing. As the sun was going down I suddenly realised this guy was watching my πŸ¦‡πŸ¦‡ in the bat flight. We had an audience. A sneaky TawnyπŸ¦‰

@Bookfairiecymru He sure was. They are all such characters and I love them all. Brown Long-eareds have always been a favourite, but I must admit I was smitten with Iggy. πŸ¦‡ ❀️ πŸ¦‡

October: Iggy, a rare Barbastelle bat, was seen flying the corridors of a hospital for days. He was finally caught and rescued and was extremely underweight for the time of year. Bats need to gain weight in order to see them through the cold winter months. Iggy soon settled in and was a treasure to care for. Here he is, enjoying his dinner.
