Sculptural necklaces created by Louise Nevelson.

Born in 1899 in present-day Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine, her family emigrated to the USA and she became an American citizen circa 1905. She died in New York in 1988.

The four necklaces shown were created in 1972 from wood, stone, glass and metal.

Acquired from the artist by the Metropolitan Museum in 1978,
