Fun fact: #Alberta did not require #DriversLicenses until some years' later.

IIRC we already had ~30,000 #MotorVehicles by the time we got around to licensing private vehicle owners. Biggest concern to push for licensing was safety: too many people dying by colliding with #trains at uncontrolled crossings.

No actual drivers' #education required, though, so I'm still unclear as how this was to help out. 😬 Alas no #Hansard here prior to #Lougheed so old #news clippings are all we really have. ☹️

Licenses only required for commerial use/professional drivers.
