unsurprisingly I was down for the count with a migraine this #LongCovidAwarenessDay
do I know for sure it was COVID that made my migraines devastatingly worse? no. is it a likely factor? yup
I had an N95 on when I was exposed, I now wear a respirator ever since, and am saddened by the lack of awareness around airborne diseases. this shit is preventable, y'all
it’s 3.5 years since my first and only known #covid infection
and i’m still sick.
still picking up the pieces.
still adjusting to my new “normal”.
heart rate alert from my watch from just standing in the kitchen after climbing the 4 steps into our house.
It’s Long Covid Awareness Day.
This year marks 3 years of living with it for me… and my health continues to be precarious.
I do my best to walk through life in the present and to manage what I’m able to - while relentlessly advocating for myself in the Canadian* medical system.
If this sounds like you too… know that you’re not alone. I see you.

*added for clarity. I also do not currently have any spoons, I’m minus spoons and bed ridden, so I cannot reply to DMs.
Reminder for Long Covid Awareness Day:
Some research studies have found many Long Covid cases meet diagnostic criteria for ME/CFS. And many of those folks never recover.
Your risk of getting Long Covid goes up with each COVID infection. The best way to avoid Long Covid is to avoid getting a COVID infection -- get the vaccine/booster, wear a mask, improve ventilation, etc.

For that matter, covid is SARS2; did anyone ever check back how the survivors of the original SARS were doing a decade later?
(spoiler: they did, it wasn't good)
