The Champion of #England from 1795-1800 & a founding member of the Pugilistic Club in 1814, ‘Gentleman’ John Jackson was a leading figure in the #LondonPrizeRing. Jackson managed the #PrizeRing for over a decade & was referred to as the ‘Commander-in-Chief’ of the Pugilistic Corps.

Traditionally a retired #Prizefighter would take the lease of a Public House & Harry Holt was no different. By January 1821 Holt had moved his family from #Lambeth to #Westminster and taken the licence of the 'Golden Cross' in Cross Lane, Long Acre.
