Rereading #LoisMcmasterBujold's Gentleman Joel & the Red Queen, & this line made me snort-laugh:

"Joel wasn't sure of the advisability of introducing a keen young officer to Vorkosigan notions of initiative. Metaphors about fighting fire with gasoline rose to his mind."

...it would probably be wrong to wish we had some Vorkosigans to deploy here in our present situation....
