🌾🔥 Happy Lohri 2026 – Bonfires, Harvest Joy & Solar Blessings! 🔥🌾
📅 Date: Tuesday, 13 January 2026 🗓
Lohri is a vibrant North Indian harvest festival celebrated with love, warmth and community spirit, especially in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi and nearby regions. The festival marks the end of the coldest winter days and the joyful arrival of longer sunshine hours as we welcome the harvest season and Uttarayan (northward Sun). 🌞🔥
🔥 Heart of the Celebration:
At the heart of Lohri is the bonfire 🔥 — a symbol of Agni (fire), warmth and purification. Families and neighbours gather around the flames at sunset, throw til (sesame seeds), gur (jaggery), peanuts, popcorn & rewri into the fire, expressing gratitude for nature’s bounty and praying for prosperity, health and abundance in the coming year. 🌽🥜🍿
Lohri nights come alive with Bhangra & Giddha dances, traditional folk songs and the joyous rhythm of dhol 🥁 as everyone celebrates together. The festival also honours legends like Dulla Bhatti, a Punjabi folk hero whose courage and kindness are remembered through songs sung around the fire. 💛🎤
