Fahrradschlösser knacken (nur mit Geschick, ohne sie zu beschädigen) kann sooo Spaß machen 😀

Natürlich nur bei Freunden, wenn man sie vorher gefragt hat, oder bei eigenen Schlössern.

Anyone have a preferred source for barrel key blanks?

I'm ideally going to put some original locks back into a cabinet, but this isn't a single key solution. I'm going to need a few.

I have never been able to pick locks...until today.

The Lockpick village at @pancakescon really helped. Bob (can't remember his full name) explained things in a way I have grasped before.

Opened up the two padlocks I have here. Looking for another.

Thanks Bob.

Attempting to source maybe 5 - 10 hollow barrel skeleton key blanks.

Instead of a lack of options, my internet search is providing me with too many options.

Once properly cut, these keys will be used - as such I want them to be more functional than decorative.

Thoughts?

Bit of a long video where I go over everything I’ve learned about SFIC over the past month and cap a core. #locksport #locksmithing #locksmith #sfic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9mjDpHyEJw
SFIC Tips, Pinning, and Capping

Did my first small SFIC system recently, helping a new property manager take over from a fired/unresponsive old one. Got to use #locksport skills including decoding a lockbox that the old manager left behind, raking a core to control (after many tries), and dumping/measuring/decoding a core to get the old system’s control key.

Also got to increase #locksmith knowledge and design & implement the new/better system; the old one was maison keyed and had no building master, the new one uses limited position progression and does have a master, which is a nice thing to have in the fire/Knox box!

I found this ABS Supply video series on “Locksmithing for the Door, Frame and Hardware Distributor, a Primer” at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAjeITEIHqeCh-e030LoFyhDfv3kJ3xCL extremely helpful for the #locksmithing stuff and some folks here might like it too. (The playlist is on my channel because ABS has a /ton/ of videos on its channel but didn’t have this series in its own playlist, so I made my own.)

Glad I ran across this article—apparently those little circular shavings after capping might not be my fault after all 🤣 “Best SFIC: Machined or Stamped Caps?” https://lockalchemy.com/best-sfic-machined-or-stamped-caps/ #locksmith #locksmithing #locksport #sfic
BEST SFIC Machined or Stamped Caps? - Lock Alchemy - Locksmith and Security Solutions

Working with SFIC locks requires learning a new skill set and terminology. It’s a different way to think about locks. One point of confusion is the difference between machine and stamped caps. The LAB pinning kit comes with both machined and stamped caps and both types are readily available from suppliers. So which ones should […]

@mcdanlj I don’t know of anything exactly like what you’re talking about but it’s possible there are some things out there that are close; here’s a video I saw recently that is on the same topic, and I think he implies others have done similar work in the Altoid tin container format: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-y-y4rWkx-A #locksport #locksmith #locksmithing

I don’t do #automotive #locksmithing so I can’t evacuate CLK Supplies’ claim, but they say this Flip Key Pin Removal Tool is a “game changer” for “easy removal and replacement of roll pins, specifically designed for automotive flip keys” #locksmith https://www.clksupplies.com/blogs/news/affordable-excellence-the-flip-key-pin-removal-tool-every-automotive-locksmith-needs
Affordable Excellence: The Flip Key Pin Removal #Tool Every #Automotive #Locksmith Needs

Locksmiths in the automotive sector, especially those familiar with flip keys, understand the challenge of efficiently removing and replacing roll pins. Today, we delve into a tool that revolutionizes the way automotive locksmiths work – the Flip Key Pin Removal Tool. Why is the Flip Key Pin Removal Tool a Game-Changer? Simplicity & Efficiency: At first glance, the Flip Key removal tool might seem rudimentary, but it's designed for functionality. Its ergonomic structure allows for easy removal and replacement of roll pins, specifically designed for automotive flip keys. Affordability: Not only is the tool efficient, but it's also budget-friendly. Considering its performance, it offers significant value for its price. Replacement Parts: Accidents happen, and tools wear out. But with this tool, you can easily buy and replace parts. This ensures longevity and consistent performance. Multifunctional: Whether it's a GM flip key or a Jeep flip key, this tool can handle it all, demonstrating its versatility across different car brands. How Does It Work? Begin by aligning the ejector pin with the roll pin on the key. Apply steady, firm pressure. For stubborn pins, a lubricant like Houdini can help ease the process. Once the pin is out, replacing or repairing the key blade becomes straightforward. To reinsert the pin, it's advisable to slightly crimp the pin for easier insertion. Using the push pin, apply pressure until the roll pin is back in its place securely. A Few Tips: Using pliers, give the roll pin a slight squeeze on both ends before re-inserting. It makes the process smoother. Always ensure that you work in an area where if the pin flies out, it won't be lost. The tool kit comes with ejector pins (to push the roll pin out) and push pins (for reinserting the roll pin).
