This is my new mini-EDC pick case.

The picks include two wafer jigglers, a knife tool and a city rake on the left, and some very small Bogota rakes plus a short hook on the left. I can carry the whole thing easily in my wallet.

They're not my go-tos for a tough lock, but I can open most locks with them, and they're handy when I don't have my usual picks with me. #lockpicking #locksport

And my lock touching has gone pleasingly well too.

I got a couple of big packets of locks off ebay last week and promptly found I couldn't pick any of them, but with a bit of patience and learning to vary tension I've managed to pick a Cisa C2000 and an Asec Vital.

I've been vaguely following the Lockpickers United belts, but I probably won't do them formally because I can't be bothered to record myself, and I'm too gak-handed to gut a lock.

This morning when the alarm clock rang I was dreaming of saying the the words “I need a set of lockpicking tools”

so, in case I decided it actually was a prophetic dream and I need to act on it to avoid offending some god, where do EU people buy #lockpicking tools? especially simple beginners' sets

(I may end up cutting a few hairpins, using them to open the one lock I want to try and open at the moment and then postponing everything for years like I did the last time, but having something to do some window shopping on that is not an US shop nor a big chinese platform is nice anyway)

And in #LockSport / #LockPicking news my order of Euro Cylinders arrived yesterday and all but one immediately defeated me.

My new 0.015 tools were good, but the twisty warding at the top of the keyway just defeated me.

Still, I'll try again when I haven't just worked a 12 hour day and see if I do any better.

Any #lockpicking nerds out there who can help me identify a padlock?

It's a hardened steel body U.S. Lock, which appears to be a clone of an American 780 series or similar. The only identifying marking is ”XGI" on the back of the body.

I'm currently in the process of de-rusting the body and shackle after picking and disassembling it, as this lock was sitting outside on the latch of the back yard toolshed for what looks like several years before I came along. My roommate claimed the lock was here before she moved in six years ago, so ofc she doesn't have a key.
