artists, writers, and makers — i’m booking dates for "the artist is in" and i'd love to fill those sundays with you.

here's the project: every sunday from june 7 to september 6, 2026, one local creator sets up shop inside a bright yellow booth at the plainfield farmers market. the booth is modeled after lucy van pelt's "psychiatrist is in" stand from peanuts — plywood, sandwich-board sign, the works.

what you do in there is up to you. paint, sketch, weave, embroider, knit, sculpt, type a poem on a manual typewriter, work on a zine, write longhand, take photos, edit comics on a tablet, tune an instrument and noodle — anything you'd be doing in your studio (or at your desk) anyway. people wander up. some will ask questions, some will watch for a minute and move on. you don't have to perform. you don't have to sell anything. you just have to be making.

i’m explicitly looking for:

- painters, illustrators, printmakers, comic artists

- fiber artists weavers, embroiderers, knitters, sewers, dyers

- ceramicists, sculptors, jewelers, woodworkers

- photographers, zinesters, collagists, book artists

- poets, fiction writers, essayists,

- playwrights, songwriters, spoken-word folks

- and anyone else making work that doesn't fit those categories

no portfolio. no publication history. no "i'm not a real artist" disclaimers. hobbyists, self-taught folks, students, retirees, teenagers with one good thing in a notebook — all welcome.
