4/5: The story picks up seamlessly from book 1 and concentrates on An Zhe trying to get back home while also trying to wrangle his misbehaving spore. When he reunites with Lu Feng, the romance part also picks up but it stays in the background throughout the book. We get the unbearable pain of being (or trying to be) human, hope in hopelessness, completely bonkers and unhinged worldbuilding, sacrifices, revelations, and a very satisfying ending. The extras were relevant to the story (instead of being rape fantasies or years long curtain fic things) and there weren’t too many. All in all, I enjoy...

4/5: I’m gonna start with this: the whole premise for this book is insane. Sentient mushroom dude? OKAY. That said… what a cutie! Terrible horrible not good awful world but An Zhe doesn’t let reality hinder his wide-eyed wonder or his goal of getting back his spore. I can understand why people find this off-putting. The world is incredibly bleak and everything seems hopeless, and Lu Feng is a cold asshole most of the time. And, most of all, the MC is a mushroom.
