Lithocarpus edulis, MaTeBaShii: the little oak tree with the big acorns. A lot of common trees around here are not found in Europe (the UK) and the USA I guess so they don't seem to have English names.. Wikipedia can only give me the official botanical latin name.
While walking into work this morning the smell made me look up to notice all the flowers. I thought most of these evergreen oaks (of the Lucidophyl Forest?) flowered earlier, like at the start of May during the Golden Week holidays... Maybe these short stone oaks with the big acorns are late, or this year is different.. or this place is special?? Inquiring Minds!!
