ETA: I'm realizing there were multiple peasant revolts and wars in many countries. In general, though, they have much cause to rise up and are put down violently by the wealthy and powerful.

#LionsLedByDonkeys has a bonus episode where they were talking about a sticky bomb they attempted to develop in World War II and it had an unfortunate tendency to stick to everything but the tank and the most common thing it stuck to was the pants of the guy trying to throw it.

Which meant it was not an uncommon occurrence when they were testing this thing to have the guy with the sticky bomb have to take off his pants and throw it at the tank.

Anyone here listen to the #LionsLedByDonkeys podcast? And if you do, what are your thoughts on the Battle of Stalingrad series so far?

I was listening to the #LionsLedByDonkeys episode on the wooden Nazi jet for kids and the part where Nate says "Nein! Mine flutzoig itz a fallen... Jesus catgirl ge traud!" made me laugh so hard it hurt since I strained all my abdominal muscles at an exercise class on Friday.

(I don't speak German, so that's probably not remotely accurate, I was just going phonetically)

And the entire digression comparing to a girl in a cat suit on a scooter to Hitler.

I'm listening to the #LionsLedByDonkeys episode about the Yamato, and one of my favorite stories is how her sister ship, the Musashi, was so goddamn big when it launched it flooded Nagasaki harbor. The entire thing was a hilariously accurate metaphor for what Imperial Japan was prioritizing.

this episode of #LionsLedByDonkeys where joe has a guy who did his whole thesis on this exact period of Japanese history to talk about the historical in/accuracy of Shogun II is just. a perfect gem of nerdery.
