That brilliant actor and director Lionel Jeffries was born on this day in Forest Hill in 1926 . He gave us many things but for my money his two greatest achievements were The Railway Children and The Amazing Mr Blunden. #LionelJeffries #TheAmazingMrBlunden #TheRailwayChildren

Prime Time: Whoever Slew Auntie Roo? (1971)

Movies young and old, from fright flicks to cracking comedies, from the latest blockbusters to the rarest cult treats.

My daughter has won the role of the Childcatcher in her school's production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. We rewatched the film over the last couple of nights. I absolutely adore it. Every single performance is brilliant; the songs infections; the gags hilarious. I adore it more every time I watch it (except that awful song Truly sings when she realises she loves Dick Van Dyke - that always gets fast forwarded).
