Our first game of the year was Lion Rampant, playing a rather large game of Romans v Goths. Scenario was along similar lines to our recent Saga games.

Goth Rampant

Our first game of the year was a game of Lion Rampant, with two large armies of Goths and Romans facing off against each other.

Gaming Chronicles

Love this lion rampant on the gates of Òran Mór in the West End of Glasgow. Originally built as the Kelvinside Parish Church, it was converted into an entertainment venue in 2004. Òran Mór is Gaelic and can be translated as the Big Song or the Great Melody of Life.

Bought some better glue to fix the issue I’d been having with these 1/72 scale riders.

They kept flaking off the horses at the slightest touch.

I’m sure more seasoned modellers have been using similar glues but this was the first time I had used this dual ‘activator’ & super-glue approach. A slightly more expensive solution than the no-frills brand glues I typically use on figures.

The riders are rock solid on their mounts.

#lionrampant game tonight at Jolt in #canberra Using a mix of club terrain and my 1/72 Italeri, MiniArt, Orion, Strelets (with the odd Airfix) figures.

We played a homebrew siege game based on one of the scenarios from the LR rule book.

I tried the old ‘challenge to duel’ gambit…which I won, but my opponent used his reroll token to negate it. We tied and the game ploughed on.

Was basically ground into a paste after that. Good times!

Another chance to redeem myself in a game of #LionRampant tonight at my local games centre ‘Jolt’ here in #canberra.

I lost.

My leader challenged his leader and defeated him in a duel…but it was probably mistimed as all of my opponent’s morale held. My leader’s unit was smashed a few turns later and fled. This had a cascading effect on my retinue’s morale and we were soon fleeing the ground.

The Hussite wagons made it to safety and the scenario was lost.

First #LionRampant game for many many months. I’d forgotten how much I love seeing my 1/72 medieval collection on the table.

I’ve been taking my son to the local games store Jolt in #canberra for a weekly MtG game. I managed to arrange a game of LR with a friend of the family. We played the ‘Hold on Tight’ scenario.

It was a brutal dust up that went many rounds before my last Elite cavalry units were routed.

I’ve been off the brushes for months now, busy with work and other commitments. I’ve let my painting slide and I didn’t realise how much painting regularly helps to relieve stress.

But now the urge to add to my very large collection of painted 1/72 Medieval & Dark Age collection has returned. These Accurate brand figures are part of a large stack of 100YW troops I’ve recently acquired.

Don’t hold your breath there’s a lot of stuff to paint!

Picked up a cheap copy of this ‘Viking in the Sun’ supplement for #LionRampant on FB marketplace. Lots of great background content, pictures and heaps and heaps of scenarios. Very impressive…especially the scenarios, as I’m always looking for scenarios. #Tabletop #Wargaming #wargames
I finally get my 2023 1/72 Crusade project up! #LionRampant @ #canberra regional #Wargaming club. The club runs once a month @ Lanyon Vikings. Today there were 40-50 people playing a mixture of games. I spent a few hours with my father in law and 12 year old daughter playing the Bloodbath scenario from LR. I love seeing my finished armies on the #Tabletop My daughter’s Elite Cavalry and crossbowmen punished her grandad’s nimble Muslim archers and infantry. #wargames #historicalWargames
Ars Magica - Rigaroga's Odd Order

Ars Magica by Jonathan Tweet and Mark Rein-Hagen from Lion Rampant, circa 1989 “A distant eye is fixed upon you. Somewhere in the black night outside your tower another wizard is using arcane lore to spy on you, and you have sensed the intrusion. Beware …”
