First published in 2000, Linux Format quickly became the magazine many turned to for Linux tutorials, distro reviews, and open source news. For two and a half decades it offered practical guides, experiments with Raspberry Pi, sysadmin tips, and deep dives into tools that shaped the Linux world.
With its final issue in mid 2025, Linux Format leaves behind a legacy of helping countless readers discover, learn, and grow within the community. While its printing has ended, the spirit of sharing knowledge that defined the magazine lives on in the people it inspired.
Just reading the final #LinuxFormat and it's REALLY weird.
The intro doesn't mention that it's the last issue. The "Join the Revolution" article about how they've been publishing for 25 years doesn't directly address that it's the last issue (there's just "Farewell" in the top-right of each page and "Will the last person to leave please please turn out the lights?").
They're kinda closing but kinda sidestepping it as well.

I will greatly miss it.
After 25 years, Issue 329 of the Linux Format magazine will be their very last. While this magazine predates my existence as a human, I have read some of their issues and they were one of the few magazines I genuinely enjoyed reading.

Die englischsprachige Zeitschrift Linux Format wird eingestellt. Die jetzt erschienene Ausgabe 329 ist gleichzeitig die letzte. In ihr blickt das Team noch einmal auf die letzten 25 Jahre zurück. Mit dem Linux Format verschwindet ein weiteres gedrucktes englischsprachiges Linux-Magazin von der Bildfläche. Zuletzt strich etwa das Linux Journal die Segel, das aber immerhin als kleines Internetmagazin weiterlebt. Hinter Linux Format steht der recht große britische Future-Verlag. Dort hat man keine Gründe genannt, die zur Einstellung des Magazins führten. Der Absatz von gedruckten Zeitschriften sinkt jedoch weltweit rapide, weshalb zu geringe Verkaufszahlen zum jetzigen Aus geführt haben dürfen. Die erste Ausgabe des Linux Format erschien im Jahr 2000. Sie lässt sich derzeit kostenlos als PDF-Dokument herunterladen und nachlesen. Die letzte Ausgabe 329 blickt nicht nur zurück auf die vergangenen Jahre und den Werdegang des Linux-Kernels, auch ehemalige Redakteure plaudern aus dem Nähkästchen.
