@ustralien and even then:

Modern #Codecs like #Speex and espechally #Opus really work great on #Mumble and other solutions like #WebCall and #SIP-Clients like #Linphone.

Unless you're stuck on #Iridium, then #Codec2 is the only thing narrowband-efficient enough to work at all...

Would appreciate any help from those with expertise in VoIP, specifically Linphone. Linphone works flawlessly on my desktop/laptop, however the Android App only works on outbound calls. On inbound calls the caller can hear me but I can't hear them. The Zoiper android app works absolutely fine for both inbound and outbound calls but prefer to use Linphone if I can solve the inbound call issue. Would appreciate any suggestions. #VoIP #Linphone #Android #Zoiper #AskFedi

Either am stupid or did #Linphone basically memory-holed #LinphoneWeb and all #SourceCode for it?

All I can find about it is this #PressRelease and #Copypasta of it.

No #git or anything...

Which is sad because it's basically a #SIP client that works with #WebRTC in a #Browser!

@herrorange Already existing options do that better than the old #SILK codec.

#Linphone (#SIP client) supports #Opus & #Speex, which can do better at narrower bandwiths)
#Codec2 OFC can work even on #Iridium-level bandwiths
#Mumble, #WebCall & #JitsiMeet also do fine on #Skype-able bandwiths and don't require a T H I C C install on peoples' devices...

Asking the wisdom of the crowd. Can anybody recommend a #VoIP provider that offers a #Swiss mobile phone number, including calls and SMS? Ideally something I can use with a FOSS app like #linphone but for this use case a proprietary app (from Play Store) is also fine. I tried #Telnix but they don't have Swiss mobile numbers, only landline. Thanks!

@BradRubenstein thanks, but that looks like a SIP client, like #linphone for example, which I have already managed to make work. The problem is the #VOIP provider: I am struggling finding one offering a #Swiss virtual mobile number.

@tramtrist yes, that's the tricky part 🙂 I've also tried #telnyx with #linphone for example and that works... but Telnyx does not offer Swiss mobile numbers, and I'm struggling finding a provider which does.
