The Lego Game Boy set is finally complete! 😀

I finished with the Link's Awakening and Super Mario Land game cartridges and the console stand.

This set is really great and was fun to build ❤️

Going from Link's Awakening to just starting Oracle of Seasons I can immediately feel how much more concise Link's Awakening is in its overworld and dungeon layout. Every section of the game has a purpose whereas with Oracle of Seasons I get the sense that a lot of the sections of the map are just for setdressing or to make the trek longer. It could be that the Oracle games were developed with Ocarina of Time as inspiration, so maybe the devs thought big empty spaces = epic. Maybe I'm just not far enough in the game to have realized that each section does indeed have a purpose. No spoilers, please!! :pra:

The rooms in the dungeons are a lot bigger and the camera can scroll, but with not a lot filling these rooms up. Like they'll have like 5 enemies in a room spread out and I feel like the same thing could have been accomplished by simply making the room smaller and positioning the enemies closer together.

It was a quiet week for me on the fediverse, just boosting a couple gems and sharing a bit about a death in our family.

Tonet’s mother died early Sunday morning, and Monday morning she began the flights back to Eastern Samar in the Philippines to be with her family and mourn. Celestine stayed with me, and it has been an exhausting week for all the reasons in that constellation of grief, parenting, working, and the focuses that are demanded by responsibilities. I’m on my way to pick up Celestine from her school and am looking forward to a bit of weekend breathing room before two more weeks of the same.

The MacDonald Bridge is closed all weekend, so instead of our typical grocery shopping I took Celestine to Bayer’s Lake. While there I found another adaptation of Anne of Green Gables, Anne Arrives, at a thrift shop. I’ve been reading any adaptation of the book I encounter and this will be next. We later stopped at the library where my sister was working and I took out the first volume of She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat.

Adventures in Super Ultrawide: Link's Awakening DX HD 1.5.0 Beta 16 running full screen is *insane*, being able to see the entire world moving and alive all at once like this. WOW.

Back when #OcarinaOfTime was about to release (and when it was in development), I recall it was referred to as #Zelda4 by the video games magazine I read. #LinksAwakening wasn't counted, as it was perceived to be a spin-off title, similar to Super Mario Land.

I was curious about what the consensus is in 2025, but it turns out search engines just return Four Swords Adventures when searching for "Zelda 4".

When asked a question, Google's AI claims that #ALttP (#Zelda 3) is the fourth game.
