🚨 Travel Warning from Namibia 🚨

I arrived in Windhoek full of excitement for my journey across Africa… and within hours, everything went wrong.

I was attacked and robbed by two armed men on this very stairway. The first went straight for my stomach with a knife, while the second came from behind, aiming for my ribs. In that split second, I had to fight for my life. I managed to throw the second attacker down the stairs, but the first escaped with my phone and all my data, including everything from Zanzibar to Namibia.

I survived, but it was terrifying. For two weeks, I waited in Windhoek for police action. Nothing happened. No phone. No SD card. Just disappointment and frustration. I eventually had to move on, shaken but alive.

Because of this experience, I cannot recommend Namibia for tourism anymore. The landscapes are stunning, but the risk of violent robbery is real.

I’m sharing this so others can stay alert, protect themselves, and make informed decisions. Travel can be amazing, but sometimes the worst can happen when you least expect it.

📹 The video below also shows the stairway for a short moment where it all happened.

Help me recover after a robbery

Help me recover after a robbery I was recently robbed right after arriving in Namibia and lost my phone, including my 1TB microSD card with photos and important data. The device was essential for my travels, photography, and staying connected. I’m now raising funds to replace: - a new phone - a 1TB microSD card - a protective case - shipping and import taxes Every contribution helps me get back on track and continue documenting my journey with photos and stories. Thank you for your support 🙏

🎥 Google surprised me with a short video made from my photos over the past years. It shows this day in previous years of my travels.

This month marks 9 years of traveling for me. Back in 2022 I could never imagine I’d still be on the road — and now here I am.

Morning under Kilimanjaro ☕🏔️

Short night — sleep only came after 2 a.m., and I was up again before 7. Cold water only, a cold shower, then up to the rooftop for breakfast.

With coffee in hand, I watched Kilimanjaro stand clear this morning, free of clouds, sharp and quiet against the sky. A view like that doesn’t need much else.

Another coffee now.

Today is about numbers and decisions: bus prices, timetables, places to stay. My visa in Tanzania is coming to an end, so every choice matters a little more.

Soon I’ll head into town and face the “mzungu price” — where everything suddenly costs more just because you’re white.

For now, I’ll finish this coffee and let the day unfold. ☕

Odessa, Ukraine — fragments of a city that once felt like home

Here are some old photos from Odessa, a city that became a quiet anchor during the first years of my life on the road. In this post, I’m sharing 8 images taken across different moments and different visits, small windows into a place I kept returning to over time.

Back then, Odessa wasn’t just a stop on a map for me. It was a city I came back to again and again, because something about it felt alive in a way I couldn’t fully explain. I loved the atmosphere in the streets, the mix of history and everyday life, the long walks along the coast, and the architecture that seemed to tell stories even when you didn’t know the language. No matter what the weather was like, I walked. Rain, wind, or sun — it didn’t matter. Being outside, moving through the city, was part of how I experienced it.

Many of those days ended with the same small ritual. I would sit down at Aroma Kava, order a cappuccino and a piece of cake, and watch the city flow past. Locals, travelers, snippets of conversations in different languages, the sound of traffic and footsteps — all of it blended into a kind of calm background that made me feel both alone and connected at the same time.

The last time I left Odessa was in February 2022, through the airport. At the time, I didn’t know it would be the last time I would see the city the way I remembered it.

Since then, everything feels different. The memories are still warm, but they carry a quiet sadness now. If the war had never happened, I know I would still be going back, still walking those same streets, still sitting in the same cafés, and still adding new chapters to a place that once felt like a second home.
