More homegrown fencing. Green bamboo and peeled stakes of hazel gathered about the grounds. The hazel probably won't last for more than two seasons where it meets the earth but should be easily replaced with care. What is left would make good kindling or perhaps piled among the trees to decay with all the life that would support.

Spent tree peony seed pods. A lichen has found harbour in one. The seeds are like precious stones.

Needed to make a short run of fence at the head of a ditch. I feared anyone who stumbled would have a far worse fall. Used some green bamboo that was cut as part of ditch clearing together with hazel stakes and incorporating an existing willow pollard helps make the whole quite sturdy. Interested to see how the bamboo behaves. Feel I could have been a little more artful but it will do the job.

One of two Maggie Howarth mosaics in a garden I tend. Ordinarily it would be scrubbed or washed as a shine-eyed ornament. I prefer the mystery, softness and the sense of nature slowly reclaiming it's own from human endeavour.
