FSL and BSL belong on any list of false-promise licenses:

They are not open source. They are restrictive source-available licenses dressed up with “open” language.

Reading the code is not enough. If users cannot freely run, use, or build on the software because of field-of-use or competition restrictions, the software is not open source.

Marketing it as “open source” or even putting “open” in your name is misleading twice: first in the license, then in the messaging.

A ideia de união da comunidade parece funcionar apenas na teoria, pois na prática o que vemos é o contrário.

Podem falar o que quiserem sobre o Onlyoffice, mas a verdade é que em 16 anos de existência ele conseguiu fazer o que o Libreoffice nunca conseguiu com perfeição: a compatibilidade com arquivos utilizados no mercado (entenda-se Microslop Office).

O assunto é extenso, envolve blobs e a famigerada AGPL, então é melhor assistirem ao vídeo. Mas uma coisa é fato e todos já estão de saco cheio.

Ao meu ver a comunidade pratica o contrário de “unir para vencer”, que é o “separar para perder”.

Turns out there is a german NGO (or specifically eingetragener Verein) that is being build that has the goal to sue companies that don't want to comply with FOSS licenses.
Membership is free, they still need a few dozends of people to gain the right to sue in the EU.

Help in making devices getting community support for 10 years the norm! My phone is at 8 cause Xiaomeme's daughter company cared back then and released kernel source code, but they don't appear to listen to requests anymore!

After the chardet bullshit, I'm seeing a rising trickle of use of the term "clean room re-implementation" referring to "AI" slop output from a prompt to rewrite some open-source code.

It ain't a clean room rewrite; that has a very specific meaning.

We need a new term for this kind of LLM-enabled license-washing. Suggestions?
