Negligence & years of pol turmoil⬆️death toll💔: W/o a national govt, INFRA crumbles: The 2 large dams in Derna were an accident waiting to happen, esp. bc poorly constructed housing built close to the river had become increasingly dense & high-rise. Money was set aside for the dams -little of it seems to have been spent. Once the flood waters overwhelmed 1st dam -accumulated behind 2nd, causing it to burst.
