He would never forget the scene that greeted him that day. The piano keys, white and black and blood red. The Pianist, playing with his too numerous arms. The music that was resonating in his bones.

The corpses, disappearing into the instrument as it grew.

Her.

It was engraved in his memories, lurking into his nightmares. He couldn't hide from it, couldn't discard it. So he let it fan the flames of his hatred. Make his pain a sharp blade.

Binah observes. She's good at that, has always been good at that. (Binah has always observed. Garion... she isn't so sure.)

From her perspective, some things seem obvious, but she doesn't allow herself to ignore the details. They shape the reactions people have and, sometimes, they shine a light through a lie.

It's little things that don't add up. Or maybe they do add up in an unexpected picture. One that can be revealed with a tiny push.

Of course, all of this is to help Angela, which Yesod is not exactly happy with. But in the meantime... well. The Library is a place he finds himself appreciating despite his efforts.

It's not perfect, but compared to Lobotomy Corporation, he really can't complain. It's not just books they're gathering; they're doing information collection, and this makes it interesting to the scientist he used to be, and familiar to the Sephirah.

Angela was fully human. All the Light was at her fingertips, her Book waiting for her.

It was time.

Roland was ready to tear her down from her high, destroy her and make her feel every second of it. He'd stoked the fire of his hatred just for this moment.

He would kill her. Drink in her pain, her despair, break her. Wash blood with blood, and bask in the sight of her corpse.

(And when he would be done, only his sorrow would remain.)

The Library's growth was slow.

Maybe City folks didn't see it like that. After all, the threat level they assigned to it changed a lot. But for Angela, it seemed slow. The Floors stayed closed, then almost empty, for far too long. (Her humanity was way too out of reach, her perfect Book nowhere in sight.)

But she could wait. She was used to it, after all. She couldn't rush this process any more than she could break out of the facility.

This, Naoki thought, was the best mean of transportation she'd ever experienced. This "Invitation" was the real stuff, teleportation so smooth that it felt even more comfortable than taking a simple step forward.

It was probably better than things she hadn't tested too. A taxi seemed comfy but took time to navigate the streets. Even the WARP train sounded less nice, with how you shared it with many passengers.

This smelled like money.

"I have to admit, I am surprised that we haven't even heard from the Head yet," Angela commented.
"Nah, that's not shocking," Roland shrugged.
"Even after we did non-negligible damage to the Liu? I would have thought an Association would get us noticed."
"Fair. But it would probably take us booking the Hana for an intervention from the Head. They rarely get themselves directly involved, you know. We might still make it safely."

"Is it common to have several Fingers fighting over territory?" Angela asked.
"It's not *uncommon*, but here it's a bit more... free-for-all than usual. It's not often that a new sector with no previous Syndicate presence is up for grabs, after all."
"You mean the Nest, that lost L Corp's protection."
"Exactly. You'll soon be ready to be a true City denizen!"
"... Does the Liu Association have any chance to win this?"
"It's not their job."

Knowing the City is absurdly populated is one thing, but finally getting a glimpse into it is another. Hints of the population density are everywhere Angela can see crowds or buildings through the Invitations.

It puts the rampage of the Pianist and, later, of the Crying Children into perspective, too. How could you avoid any danger from hitting so many people when they are forced to live so close to each other? It's just impossible.

"I don't get why Binah is allowed to run a Floor," Roland complained.
"Why?" Chesed prompted.
"She's an Arbiter! And she's never doing any work. It's obvious she would backstab us all if Angela didn't have that much control!"
"Ah, but is this knowledge or prejudice? She's not an Arbiter anymore, you know~"
"So what? You trust her?"
"I do trust her to work alongside us. If she hopes for a different ending, that's for the future to see~"
