The protagonist is the most important person to the reader.
The villain is the most important person to the author. Your antagonist has to be strong or your hero never can be.
Picking Which Book To Write:
- deadline
- if no deadline -> whatever brain is thinking
- if brain is off -> Random.org?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=fedica-Editing
I literally have a numbered list of projects and on the days I don't wake up with a scene in my head I let the random number generator pick for me.
Start with lower stakes and then escalate as the book progresses, often forcing the characters to choose from their original goal to another one and using the friction of indecision to power the plot.
Writing Tip Of The Day: If you're planning to publish it helps to have a file where you can drop pull quotes into. While you're editing grab the lines that stand out to you so you can use them for promo later.
If you are writing historical fiction that goes way, WAY back, or if you're writing post-apocalyptic/settling a new world fiction, you might want to check this out.

How you end chapters (and your book!) helps determine what genre your book is. Endings of sentences, scenes, chapters, and books all add weight to the thought and emotion they end on. If you keep ending on questions, it's a mystery. If you end with fear, it's horror.
Part of being a successful adult is making time to reset, refuel, and recharge.
When you're working, take hourly break to stretch, hydrate, rest your eyes. Take several daily breaks to get food, refuel the brain, and do something not work related. Take weekly breaks from work.
Unless there is a lot of money on the table or some other demonic deadline, don’t lose sleep over writing. It’s not healthy. There’s no advantage to stressing yourself out and making yourself miserable while writing a book.
Have fun!
