This is not at all a trivial discussion that #lgbtqia op-ed representation in the media is almost entirely male, and pretty much entirely white and rich.
I have friends in the #trans community in non-blue areas of the US who are very smart, with college-level educations, many who are white - and they are having HUGE problems getting jobs right now... in retail. At grocery stores, etc.
Why? Because bigotry is mainstreamed at all levels of society.
Who's standing up for their right to survive?
It should also be said how horrible it is for minorities of any sort to tolerate racism and calls for hate in the mainstream.
Take a look at the HUGE, DISPROPORTIONATE impact on the LGBTQIA community for decades, where people like Andrew Sullivan and Milo Yianoppolus were the only prominent members of a HUGE community nearly as large as Blacks being mainstreamed as op-ed contributors.
There is a gigantic discussion of bigotry & systemic discrimination the #lgbtqia SHOULD be having, but aren't.
