Did I tell you about the bad air quality in North Macedonia? Sadly it is almost everywhere. But not on top of the mountains. Today I snapped this photo from the Mavrovo ski area. Looking over the Mavrovo Lake to the north west one should be able to see the city of Tetovo in the far distance. The smog behind the ridge prevents that.

Last night official data shows that the PM2.5 particles were above 100, and now at the moment writing this it’s above 60 after a dip down to 29 mid day.

The environmental standard in Sweden is that the daily average of PM 2,5 isn’t allowed to be above 25 more than 3 times per calendar year.

I fear #NorthMacedonia is failing that threshold several times over.

We saw several man made fires of garbage along the way back to Skopje. Those garbage burns are the worst to air quality!
