Der Lesbian Visibility Day wird jedes Jahr am 26. April gefeiert. Seinen Ursprung hat er in den 1990er Jahren in den USA und wird heute weltweit begangen. An diesem Tag sollen lesbische Frauen und ihre Lebensrealitäten sichtbarer und auf Diskriminierung und Vorurteile aufmerksam gemacht werden.
Er ist ein Zeichen für Anerkennung, Gleichberechtigung und Empowerment. Lesbische Frauen erleben häufig eine doppelte Marginalisierung – sowohl durch Sexismus als auch durch Homo- und Queerfeindlichkeit. Gleichzeitig werden sie im öffentlichen Diskurs oft weniger wahrgenommen als andere Teile der LGBTQIA+-Community.

Für uns als Crefelder CSD Verein ist dieser Tag wichtig. Er erinnert uns daran, dass queere Sichtbarkeit keine Selbstverständlichkeit ist, sondern aktiv erkämpft und verteidigt werden muss. Gerade auch auf lokaler Ebene wollen wir Räume schaffen, in denen Frauen sichtbar, sicher und selbstbestimmt leben können.
