Rusakko on levinnyt kaakosta Suomeen 1800-luvun loppupuolelta lähtien ja 1900-luvun alussa sitä on istutettu tänne Lounaaseen. Nyt niitä on hyvin runsaasti, josta hyötyvät ilvekset ja sudet, ehkä jänön poikasista myös ketut ja pienpedot. Jänikset osaavat hyvin hyödyntää viljelyksiä ja puutarhoja, ja suosivat näin ihmisasutuksia, kuten kauriitkin. Sitten ne isommat pedotkin siirtyvät meitä lähemmäksi... :-)

The European hare has spread from the southeast to Finland since the late 19th century, and in the early 20th century it was introduced here in the southwest. Now there are a lot of them, which benefit lynxes and wolves, and perhaps foxes and small carnivores from the hare's young. Hares are good at exploiting crops and gardens, and thus prefer human settlements, as do deer. Following them the bigger carnivores will move closer to us too... :-)
