[Resolved] Outbound federation issues - Lemmy.World
Hello World, after updating to 0.19.17 last night we’ve experienced federation
issues over the last 24h, where in some cases federation to some other instances
was stuck for up to a few hours at a time. We believe to have identified the
root cause for this issue and are currently rolling out a patch to revert the
likely cause. This issue has been reported on the Lemmy issue tracker here
[https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/6427]. Due to the overall volume of
federation data it’ll take some time until other instances will be fully caught
up again. We’ll keep monitoring the situation. — edit: forgot to refresh the
dashboard, should be caught up on most instances already — update 2026-03-31
8:27 UTC: we’re not seeing the previously logged errors anymore since reverting
the suspected patch.
(8/7) ADDENDUM: "This is not hate against Proton. It is brutal love of truth. If we want reliable infrastructure, we must demand it even (especially) from those who claim to be 'on our side'. Criticism is revolutionary care."

[Completed] Possible Lemmy.World maintenance and update to 0.19.15 on 26th between 09:00-13:30 UTC - Lemmy.World
Hello World, we may be performing an update to Lemmy 0.19.15 on Friday. We don’t
know for sure yet if we will have time to prepare and then do the update, but
we’ll try to squeeze it in to have it deployed this year still, as we would
otherwise have to postpone it to next year. We are planning maintenance within
the time frame from 09:00-13:30 UTC on 26th of December. Actual downtime within
this window is expected to be significantly shorter, maybe 15-30 minutes due to
a DB migration, but we don’t know yet when it will be, or if we’ll be able to
fit it in here at all. You can convert this to your local time here:

The most notable user-facing changes are the following: - Comments are no longer
shown as edited in the default web interface, provided the edit was within 5
minutes of the comment being posted - Length of user profile bio has been
increased to 10,000 characters - Community sidebars now have a search field in
the default web interface - Search can be limited to post title only -
Moderation actions on deleted users federate properly - Pagination limit using
non-cursor pagination has been limited to 100 pages max.
This should only be relevant for developers and users of clients using the
legacy method for pagination, although it isn’t common to scroll through 100
pages either way. Using cursor navigation is recommended and does not impose
this limit. — Update 10:55 UTC: the update has been completed successfully
I've wanted AMOLED phones since the 2010s (my teenage years). People had them. At that time, AMOLED phones were usually expensive and only available for flagship models. As of now, I have had two AMOLED phones. The first one was bought for me by my mum (which a random troll on Lemmy.world never contributed anything to me except harm).

[Completed] Lemmy.World hardware maintenance today 13:45-14:45 UTC - Lemmy.World
Hello World, we will be replacing a faulty memory module on our server today. As
this will require powering down the server, we will also combine this with a few
other system maintenance tasks. Our hosting provider has confirmed their work
between 14:00-14:30 UTC, our full maintenance window is 13:45-14:45 UTC to have
a little extra buffer and be able to deal with our additional maintenance work.
